Contests and Concerts

Yorkshire Traction Honley Band are pleased to announce that we have applied to enter the Yorkshire and Humber Brass Band Association Own Choice Contest on Sunday 4th November 2018.  We will be entered to Group C - Unregistered Bands.

The last time we entered a Test Piece Contest was back in 2013, so we are very much looking forward to trying our hand in contests again.

Even though we are yet to start the concerts season for 2018, we are already booking places to play for 2019.   We have today secured a date at the Famous Boarshurst Band Club in Greenfields, Saddleworth.  This is a very sought after venue for Bands no matter who they are.  Hammonds to Honley.....we all want to play there

Follow Boarshurst Silver Band Club on Facebook for their weekly live streamed concerts each Sunday evening.

Follow the band and see how hard we have been practicing ready for the summer months!

The great news is that we have now filled the cornet back line, the bad news is.....we are in desperate need of two front row cornets to see us through the summer season - Anyone back row player out there fancy a step up?  Two more cornets will see us entertaining through the summer with a full band!  Not many can say that.

Come on, have a go!

The Expanding Brass Band

We warmly welcome the following new players to the ranks of Yorkshire Traction Honley Band:-

Peter Bebb joins the Euphonium Section.
Maura Ward moves from playing the Tenor Horn and joins us on Back Row Cornet.
Tom Hoyle to our Bass Section on Eb Bass.

We hope you enjoy your time with us.

Over the past few months Yorkshire Traction Honley Band has been busy raising funds to repair the roof of their Bandroom in Berry Croft, Honley. The estimated cost of a full repair amounts to over £10,000, but rather than being daunted by this prospect everyone is rallying together to bake delicious cakes for various cake stalls, donating items for table top sales, and playing their hearts out at various functions to raise money for the Roof Fund. Over Christmas this year the Band will be playing at least 12 times in local Supermarkets, clubs and churches, as well as doing lots of street busking, all in aid of the Roof Repair Fund.

Huddersfield Common Good Trust has kindly pledged £3,500 towards the project, and Huddersfield One Community Foundation together with Longley Farm have given a grant of £500. Fundraising is ongoing, and we value every contribution however great or small. Donations can be sent to:
